Dr. Daniel Trathen earned his BA in Psychology from Oakland University, an MDiv in Christian Education and an MA in Counseling and earned his DMin in Pastoral Counseling and Clinical Studies in the Boston area. Dr. Trathen also earned his PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver and is a licensed clinical psychologist. He has taught in graduate programs for 20 years. He has been an adjunct professor teaching graduate and doctoral students at Denver Seminary since 1985. He has taught in Moody Bible Institutes Graduate School as well as being a Counseling Instructor in the Graduate Department at Simpson College. He has traveled extensively internationally.


Dr. Trathen has over 35 years of clinical experience in individual, adolescent, premarital, marriage, and family counseling. He also does life and leadership coaching. In addition to his clinical background, he is a retired Army Reserve Officer. He is a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Trathen maintains an active national training, consulting/coaching, and teaching practice.

He has written a biweekly columns for The Parker Chronicle (Dr. Dan for Today) as well as contributing numerous articles for several journals including "Marriage and Family: A Christian Journal.", Search Parker/Castle Rock magazines as well as Douglas County Business Journal. He is a co-author of A Lasting Promise, a book on helping good marriages get better. This book is published in English, Korean and Slovokian. Dr. Trathen and his wife, Lynn, have been married for 41 years; have two adult children, and six grandchildren.
