John R. Tarr, M.D.

Dr. John Tarr specializes in psychiatric medication evaluation and management for children, adolescents, and adults. He received a Bachelor of Science (Honors) Degree from Loyola University of Chicago with Psychology as a major. He also received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Loyola University of Chicago. He performed his Psychiatry Internship at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii before completing his General Psychiatry Residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He has served as Clinical Faculty of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and the University of Colorado.
    Dr. Tarr has more than 20 years of experience in psychiatry in outpatient, inpatient, forensic, community mental health, military, and private practice settings. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1995 after serving as the Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology certify him as a Diplomat in the fields of General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and a member of the Colorado Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Society.
